Welcome to the Access Capstone website
This website presented by: Abdullah Alzahrani, Mawadah Hamza , and Sebastian Garrett. Our website interested on poverty.
The website contains different page sections. Every section has its own summary and skills that are explain poverty. In this website, we would like to prove and show our ability regarding poverty. Plus, we will show how we connected our skills from different class to poverty. All of the skills we have gained were during the ACCESS year at George Mason. To illustrate, in Research Methods class we have done plenty of work that correlated to poverty. Actually, research methods class has taught us as students different ideas and how to get the information by looking for different source. In addition, we have learned which source should we trust and considered as credible source, that way we find credible sources and information about poverty. However, before the Access year, we use collect the information from any website such as "Wikipedia".
We started the ACCESS program last semester. We had a shortage in knowledge regarding poverty. Nevertheless, now we have knowledge that can help us to understand many causes and solutions for this issue. In this assignment, Capstone, we are assigned to answer the question: How have all of your courses this year contributed to a holistic understanding of poverty?
In fact, the question is interesting. Since we were studying throughout the ACCESS year, one thing that was important is to learn class skills in particular and poverty in general. For example, when we study English class, we do not focus on reading, grammar, writing, and reading skills only; instead, we also focus on outside the class such as poverty and its impact on the world. As a result, in this assignment, we try to put our ideas, understanding, and work in this website related to poverty.
One of the most issues that are threatening our world is poverty. Bad health, a lot of death and more are consequences by poverty. In the website, at the first page “American Culture”, we have presented a PowerPoint project that is correlated to poverty. Same sex marriage is the topic of the project. In the presentation project, we linked some evidence that affected homosexual people. In fact, homosexual people could not get benefits after the partner will die in some states that do not allow same sex marriage. Second page is about Research Methods class. We present our research about poverty with different causes and solutions to this issue. Also, we created a page that has summaries which are related to poverty and its cause and effects. We picked up the best four summaries from ENGH 121 class.
The selection of the assignments for the website was based on different factors. First, we seat together and decided which article we have to choose. Then, we selected the American Culture project based on the best topic that has much information about poverty. Finally, we edited the assignments to the final draft.
At the end, we would like to thank you for reading our website. After finishing one year at the Access year, we wish that we present ideal students who link their skills to poverty. Lastly, we hope you find our website a useful and helpful for you.
Sincerely,
